10 Things You Should Do in 2014

What up playas?

It's a new year! There is nothing more depressing than knowing the holiday season is nearly over and it's time to hit the books and start working. Well, my friends, that is not necessarily the case. It will be a great year and here are 10 things you should to spice up your 2014. Make the best one yet!

1) Travel somewhere.

Have you ever dreamt of dropping everything and travel the world? To live like a hippie and visit foreign lands, eat exotic foods, perhaps learn new languages and listen to different types of music. Well, my dear friend, good news for you. YOU CAN! Obviously, don't actually quit your job or anything but going abroad is what cool kids do and you wanna be cool, don't you? Besides, travelling is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.

Here's my initial euro trip plan but hey maybe we can travel together?

Don't forget your hipster essentials! Make sure that you haven't forgotten anything. Bring one or more photo cameras, you want to keep up with the Asian photographers.

Well, in these tough economic times, a trip to far away from your land may be closer to fantasy than reality. I feel ya bro! However, don't lose all hopes just yet! Get creative my friend. A small vacation might mean a weekend on the beach or in the mountains away from urban cities. It could mean a road trip with your best mates. Make time to relax and have fun! Get travelling!

2) Document your year.

Find a method to document your year. Time flies, doesn't it? We often wonder where all the time goes and day by day, we forget the meaning of what we are doing and seek motivation. Our daily routines are sometimes too repetitive and it does not inspire to carry on. Documenting your year could mean taking daily photos to making brief scribbles in a handwritten journal. So you can always take a look back to see what you've been up to and do something different. Make time to document your year in a way that feels comfortable. You'll thank yourself later.

3)Drop a bad habit.

We all have bad habits. No, you can't think of any? Mate, stop kidding yourself. Well, I'm not saying you need to cut all your bad habits in your life. We want to focus on one thing at a time. This could mean quitting smoking, cutting back on sweets, etc... Or maybe developing a healthier sleep schedule, now that I think about it, that does not apply to me. I could never go to bed early; I have higher chances becoming the dictator of the world than going to sleep early. Yes, it's that bad!

Anyway, dropping a bad habit does not happen over night. It takes commitment and time, do you have what it takes to drop a bad habit? Let me know how it goes.

4) Dude, ask her out NOW!

Well, girls don't really understand this but when a guy asks a girl out, that is a kind of a big deal. I am going to break this down for you my friend. There are 3 things that come up in our minds when we meet chicas:

Numero uno: She's hot but she's a slut. It's a no! We still want to bang you though.
Numero dos: She has a great personality, but we're better off being just friends. You know...
Numero tres: Absolutely stunning, fantastic personality but she's going out with a douchebag. *FACEPALM* It happens all the time.

So, when we find the right girl, it's kind of a big deal. We want to make her ours before a douchebag does. The point is, my friends, for all my female readers out there, if a dude asks you out, don't immediately say no if you don't like them, appreciate their courage and effort. They probably have shitted themselves earlier before making the move. So, ladies be careful with your words porfavor. Muchas gracias.

Anyway, back to my point... For my bros out there, it's time to grow up some steel balls and ask that chick you've been creeping for 4 weeks straight in your lectures. You now know who she hangs out with, you know what places she goes to, you know that she's available because you annoyed all your friends to find out some information for you. Dude, it's time to take action, get off the internet, you watched enough cat videos for today. Get a wash first and make sure you have a charisma like Johnny Bravo.

I'm just kidding you. But, in all seriousness, what do you have to lose? She is either going to say yes, which is definitely nice. Or she will hopefully kindly reject you and you're going to lock up in your room for 2 weeks straight. Nah, that is not going to happen, if she says no, you know you tried and there are so many chicas out there who are wondering where their prince charming is. My point is, both answers are good but take a risk and go for it. And if you get badly rejected, I had nothing to do with this. You should re-read the terms and conditions.

5) Surround yourself with positive people.

The people you hang out with are the ones who will shape your personality. Who said that? I shit you not, it's common sense my friend. If you ever felt unhappy, maybe it is because of your circle of friends. I'm not saying you need to get rid of your friends but surrounding yourself with positive people will help you build yourself as an individual and bring you more opportunities.

Here's a picture of me and my very positive friends. We aim to change young people's lives on a daily basis through cultural exchanges, etc... Really? Yes, my friend, you should join us too.
We are the world's largest student organisation called AIESEC, I'll explain it some other time. But you can always ask me, I'm the Head of Human Resources, I may recruit you. No biggie!

6) Cook something and invite your friends over.

You already do this? Why the fuck haven't you invited me over yet? Like seriously, I thought we were friends. Anyway, let's leave the drama behind, shall we?! As a 20 year old almost mentally fully-grown man (not sure if that made sense) I want to learn how to cook properly, so if I get rejected by the next 98314912 girls, I will still be able to feed myself. Jokes aside, it's nice having your friends over and eat, have a laugh and shizzles. You don't have friends? It's okay, I'll be your friend and we can eat together. You cook though, I'll just eat.
I'm not saying you need to turn into a first-class chef but look up on the internet for recipes, I would suggest Gordon Ramsay, the guy's hilarious and a damn good cook.

7)Learn a new language.

I know, you probably tried a couple of times and lost the motivation after the first two weeks. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try again. Speaking another language helps you break down barriers. A little knowledge of another language could make a difference in the attitude when you meet people from other countries. We live in a globalised world and knowing several languages can give you an extra advantage in your career. It takes time and commitment but the result will be worth it if you put in the effort. Give it a try! Ask your polyglot friends to help you get started, watch movies in another language with subtitles. Most importantly, have fun learning the language.

8)Do something memorable.

By 'do something memorable', I don't mean changing the world overnight, achieving world peace and ending hunger in every corner of the planet over night. Well, that would be nice but it is not realistic. It could be a little thing but meaningful such as buying flowers to your mum on a random Tuesday afternoon to learning how to play the guitar. It will make you realise that little things mean a lot. *CHEEEEESAAYYYYY*'Gosh, this post is so cheesy and gay' - Hey, how about you stick your finger in your butt hole? - Anyway, I was saying that it is time to do something that you have never done before. For example, you could buy a meal for a homeless person, write a hand-written appreciation letter to your friends, go parachuting. There are countless of stuff out there you can do that you've been meaning to do. It is the year to make it happen my friend. Do something memorable!

9)Digital Detox day.

I think that's how you call it. What is it? Well, in other words, no use of internet or gadgets for a day, that means 24 hours, 1440 minutes, 86400 seconds. Are you going to accept the challenge? Nowadays, we are so reliant on technology and we get intoxicated with new devices every day by these multi-billionaire international corporations. I think technology is great but we should learn how to use it. The average person checks their phone at least 110 times a day. Sweet Jesus! True story bro, read the story here. We Instagram our lunch, we check our Facebook and Twitter when we dine out. It is not a crime, you are more than welcome to do that. I personally think technology is controlling us; instead we should be controlling technology to our advantage. Try it. Let's have a Digital Detox day.

10)Keep reading my blog.

Do you really need a reason? Well, it's kinda hipster and my posts hopefully are sort of interesting to read. I'm not a writer, which you can probably tell from my poor grammar and lack of complicated sentence structures. Nevertheless, writing is something that quenches my boredom. It's fun and I'm enjoying it. Although it keeps up very late at night but hopefully it'll pay off when my audience (you) enjoys reading my posts.

Anyway, do these 10 things this year and let me know how you get on. Thanks for reading. Peace out playas!

NYE in London

3rd January 2014

Dear Diary,

It's a new year! 2014 is the year of the Horse in the Chinese new calendar. What will this year be like? What will this year bring me? How will this year go? These are very common questions that millions of other people ask themselves. To be fair I don't believe in the new year, new me bullshit. If you want to change, you can start right now, not tomorrow or next year. However, what I do believe in is that we get given 365 days; that means 365 chances to make our dreams come true.

Very often, we spend each day thinking about what we did yesterday and worry about tomorrow. Very often, we spend our time worrying too much which only leads to negative outcomes. We should instead live in the present and enjoy the moment. So, when you take a look back, your past will be filled with beautiful memories. Don't worry about tomorrow because it hasn't arrived yet. Just so you know, it will be another great day if you decided it to be. Remember that it will be a good year if you make it good. So, let's take the first step and that is living in the present.

(Personally generated hipster photo with text to emphasise on what I said, so it sounds meaningful and deep.)

I'm currently on the way back to Manchester from London whilst writing this up. Well, it's been quite nice spending NYE here. Different from what I expected, nevertheless a great experience. Different in the sense that I didn't expect breaking my wrist.

It really hurt man!

Here's how I broke it...

I know, it's pretty embarrassing but I hope you weren't laughing at me you horrible person... Anyway, I still did what I came to do... PARTAY! Throwing my broken arm (wrist) in the air back and forth was definitely something I didn't imagine I would do. Nevertheless, it was fun London... I'll be back for fireworks next time, yeah I missed it, please don't hate me.
On that note, I am going to conclude my first 'dear diary' post, hope you enjoyed reading it. Laters!
